Type Design
The Dain type family comprises Dain Smoothie, Dain Sharpie, Dain Dotted, Dain Sans, and Ornaments.
Inspired by the brushstrokes of traditional Korean court calligraphy, Dain Smoothie and Dain Sharpie reinterpret these qualities in a contemporary typographic language. Their serifs are derived from the strokes of Gungsuh script: one style emphasizes its distinctive pointed entry strokes, while the other highlights its soft, rounded terminals.
Dain Smoothie and Dain Sharpie can be layered with Dain Dotted to create new letterforms and expand the possibilities for visual expression. The Ornaments are an integral part of the type family, designed to be used alongside the typefaces as decorative elements, such as frames and illustrations.
Dain Smoothie, Dain Sharpie, and Dain Dotted are intended for display use, while Dain Sans is a companion sans-serif designed to pair seamlessly with the family.
